The Smallest Habit That Builds Instant Trust

There’s a tiny habit I’ve been practicing lately that makes a big difference in face-to-face conversations.
It’s so small, I almost hesitate to share it.
But the impact? Big.
Here it is:
When you’re talking to someone, try to notice the color of their eyes.
That’s it.
Not in a creepy way. Not staring. Just long enough to really see them.
When I do this, something shifts.
The conversation gets deeper. There’s more connection. More trust. More presence.
It's like both people drop into the moment and really meet each other, human to human.
I started incorporating this into my live classes and, honestly, I felt a little silly mentioning it.
But the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive.
People feel the difference. They feel more heard, more connected, more open.
Of course, this only works in person, but if you’re meeting a client, prospect, or teammate face-to-face, try it.
Just look into their eyes long enough to see the color.
You’ll be surprised what that one moment of presence can do.
